So, I was asked by Michelle, who runs a delicious little sandwich shop right around the corner of my house called 4 brothers, she asked me if video was right for her landing page. The quick answer is, yes but there’s a lot to consider. Video is an amazing tool and we all know the power it has on conversion rates, I mean it’s been proven to increase CTR by 80% in recent split tests by Unbounced.

The reason I say probably not is because, if you’re not comfortable in front of a camera and don’t have a decent way to capture good video, you run the huge risk of having a negative effect on your landing pages.

The easiest way to get started with a landing page video is testimonial videos. Pull up your latest smartphone and have about 3 of your favorite clients simply say how your product or service has helped them personally or helped their business. Key here is to keep it under 1min each, make sure you have plenty of lighting, and keep it in landscape mode, it just looks better.

Now, If you have a serious product launch or service offer and you need to make sure you are hitting every point on your landing page. there are some landing page video options that are proven to boost conversions by huge numbers.

This is by far the highest conversion rates that we have seen for any business. The funny thing about these, are that the best ones are animated videos. I know it sounds crazy but the science is that, if you strip out all of the fluff, have a simple art style, and an engaging story, it helps your target audience connect to the problem while also learning what your product does. It’s genius.  Companies like CrazyEgg increased their conversions by 64% which resulted in $21,000 in monthly revenue for them, simply by adding an awesome animated video to their landing page.

The 15-20min Webinars are for the buyers that for some reason keep coming back but can’t seems to hit the buy button. They’ve subscribed to your email list, they visit your blog, but still won’t buy. Usually Webinars are a follow-up to an auto-responder, they get down to the nitty gritty of your service or product and leave little to the imagination. Our friends, Cory and Ira from Mojo Video Marketing say that they are 10x more likely to close a prospect that has seen their webinar over prospects that have not.

So the short story is that a landing page video is not for everyone, but it can be. Don’t just throw videos on your landing page because you think you need to. Think about your goal, write down scripts, or hire some people that are proven to get results, like us.
