Seasonal and Pop Culture Influenced Marketing

Pop culture has always affected business. This go round, it ties in perfectly with the year’s spookiest holiday – Halloween.  Television shows like The Vampire Diaries, The Walking Dead, Grimm, and American Horror Story are all exceptionally popular right now.  Between this popularity and Halloween, it seems that there is a zombie, vampire, ghoul, or goblin popping up.  Especially the zombies.  Not literally, of course.  Zombie 5K runs, zombie themed treats, costumes, and pretty much everything imaginable has some Night of the Living Dead theme or correlation (direct or indirect to the film).  What does this niche market mean for business?

Luckily, it is easy to add zombies, ghosts, vampires or witches for festivity, and to keep current with pop culture trends. A specialized product is cute, versatile, and easy.  Another way to reach out is by using email contacts.  Adding a fun line in the newsletter, or making a video to show your business’ versatility is a great way to get on board and stay relevant with the ever changing ways of popular culture and clients’ interests!

Marketing a local hotel chain with a “haunted hotel” theme is a great way to boost sales, or playing The Walking Dead season premiere at a bar with big screens could also encourage people to get in the door.  While they might come for the fun event, the quality of the product or service is what has consumers returning, no matter what the season or sweeps week.
